Make your town Dog Friendly.

It all started in 2019 with #dogfriendlydover. We were about to host our first ever Dover Dog Howloween (DDH) event. We wanted to find a way to get those in attendance to spend some time shopping in Dover and help our fellow downtown Dover business owners increase their sales. We also wanted to demonstrate another way dogs + owners could spend time together. 

We created window stickers at no charge for those businesses that are dog friendly, and inserted #dogfriendlydover on them so that owners know their dogs can come in and shop. Our only request was the shop owner make a donation to a local dog rescue. The sticker is attached to the window of the participating stores and notifies dog-owners that their dog is welcome. 

Since then we’ve expanded our reach to #dogfriendlyportsmouth. Our plan is to keep expanding this program around New Hampshire and beyond. 

How you can help

Keep #dogfriendly active by following the hashtag #dogfriendlydover and #dogfriendlyportsmouth on Instagram. When you shop at a store with the sticker, take a photo of your pup in the store/in front of the shop’s sign then tag the shop and use #dogfriendydover / #dogfriendlyportsmouth depending on the town you are in.
